For over 35 years, OAPL has been providing an extensive portfolio of musculoskeletal bracing and supports to complement our clinical services to Australia and have now grown into the largest provider of prosthetic and orthotic services nation wide. The Strategy
We recommended migrating OAPL from LiveCube CMS (v4.5) to Shopify to leverage its broader range of out-of-the-box Business-to-Consumer apps. The new Shopify site will preserve the current branding, deliver a mobile-optimised experience, and operate on a base Shopify licence supporting up to five user accounts. All existing functionality and data will be migrated and integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC, with thorough testing by DBG and OAPL ensuring a smooth launch.
The Technology
The new OAPL site will feature Shopify Payments, supporting MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Google Pay, Shopify Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal. The shopping cart will include checkout options like Special Instructions and Authority to Leave. Additionally, it will integrate Yotpo for customer reviews, Microsoft Clarity, GA4 tracking, and LiveSync D365 BC.
The Challenge
To migrate previous customer orders from OAPLShop to Shopify, the data will be reformatted to align with the new system, linking customers via email and products via SKU. This ensures registered customers can access their order history.
The Results
The migration successfully transferred products, customers, and orders while ensuring accurate syncing of product prices, including GST exemptions. Custom coding prevented GST-exempt products from passing GST to D365, while correct GST amounts applied to other items. Discount codes from Shopify reflected accurately in D365, and hourly inventory syncs maintained stock accuracy.
Yotpo reviews were imported by syncing old and new product IDs, 301 redirects were enabled, and the customer login process improved with New Customer Accounts in Shopify. Data integrated seamlessly with MS Clarity and GA4, ensuring minimal downtime.
Simprosys connected with Google Ads, maintaining Pmax campaigns without disruption. Special instructions, Authority to Leave, and freight details passed correctly, while product descriptions, including hyperlinks, were updated with perfect formatting and design consistency.
