For over 35 years, OAPL has been providing an extensive portfolio of musculoskeletal bracing and supports to complement our clinical services to Australia and have now grown into the largest provider of prosthetic and orthotic services nation wide. Their inspiration has always been their clients, and have been guided by their mission, “helping you move without limitations”.
The Strategy
While OAPL are currently using the LiveCube CMS (version 4.5) a migration to Shopify recommendation is based on Shopify having more out of the box Business to Consumer Apps.
The new shopify site will maintain current branding, look and feel, be optimised for mobile, and will use a base Shopify license, which caters for 5 user accounts.
As part of the migration process all current functionality and data will be brought across and will be integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC.
The Technology
The new site will use the Shopify Payment system, with the ability to accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Google Pay, Shopify Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal.
Additional checkout attributes: Special Instructions and Authority to Leave, will be added to the Shopify Shopping Cart page.
The new OAPL will have the Yotpo customer reviews app, Microsoft Clarity & GA4 tracking and LiveSync D365 BC integrations.
The Challenge
To enable previous customer orders for registered customers on the OAPLShop site to be migrated to the new Shopify site, the data will need to be manipulated to suit the new format and link via the email address for Customer and SKU for the products. This will allow registered customers to view their past order history. The Shopify solution will be tested thoroughly prior to launch by both DBG and OAPL.
The Results
The migration process successfully transferred products, customers, and orders, ensuring accurate syncing of product prices, including GST exemptions. Custom coding was required to prevent GST-exempt products from passing on GST to D365, while the correct GST amounts were applied to all other products. Discount codes applied on Shopify were correctly reflected in D365, and inventory was synced every hour to maintain up-to-date stock levels.
Yotpo reviews were imported successfully by syncing old and new product IDs, and 301 redirects were enabled. The customer login process was improved by activating New Customer Accounts in Shopify. Data flowed seamlessly into MS Clarity and GA4, with nearly zero downtime.
Simprosys was set up and connected to Google Adwords, ensuring minimal downtime for Pmax ads.
Special instructions and Authority to Leave from the cart page were passed on correctly, and freight lines passed on the correct shipping codes. All product information, including hyperlinks in descriptions, were updated accurately, with formatting, UI, and design rules perfectly carried forward.
